Current Status of RRTS Project: Delhi-Meerut
By the end of this year, the RRTS that connects Delhi and Meerut is anticipated to be operational. With stops at Sari Kale Khan, New Ashok Nagar, Anand Vihar, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar South, and Modi Nagar North, the RRTS will go from Jangpura in Delhi to Meerut South. The remaining 17 km from Duhai Depot to Meerut South is anticipated to open in the upcoming months. The 32 km segment from Sahibabad to Modinagar North has been active since March 2024.
There are four phases of the Namo Bharat project, which includes the RRTS.
On October 20, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared the start of stage one, which includes the 17 km priority segment between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot.
Stage two, which is the 25 km stretch that comes before the priority portion and ends at Meerut South, is where the Namo Bharat train trial run is presently taking place, and train services will soon be starting.
This section goes beyond Duhai to the stations of Muradnagar, Modi Nagar South, Modi Nagar North, and Meerut South.
In the third stage, Namo Bharat trains will begin to run from Sahibabad to the Delhi stations of Sarai Kale Khan.
There will be stations in this segment for Anand Vihar, New Ashok Nagar, and Sarai Kale Khan; the latter three are now undergoing the latter stages of development.
The RRTS operation is scheduled to start from Sahibabad and go towards Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi following the start of train service between Sahibabad and Meerut South.
Stage four will see the commencement of Namo Bharat services from Meerut South towards the Modi Puram Depot located in Meerut.
Partapur, Rithani, Shatabdi Nagar, Brahmpuri, Meerut Central (underground), Bhainsali (underground), Begumpul (underground), MES Colony, Daurli, Meerut North, Modi Puram, and Modi Puram Depot stations are located in this section after Meerut South station.
Before the June 2025 deadline, the full 82-kilometer Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS route is anticipated to be completed and operating.
